JJM Fallis grew up in Central Ontario, Canada, and has a master’s degree from the University of Toronto in Political Science. He has experience in teaching and journalism as both a college professor and a former freelance political writer. He has been published in over thirty newspapers across Canada, including the Toronto Star, Ottawa Citizen, and Calgary Herald.

Fallis has a great passion for Ireland that stems from his Irish ancestry and love of the culture. He has travelled to Ireland several times, including a brief visit to the County Fermanagh, where part of his family originated from. He also proudly boasts the title of Irish Squire, as his siblings gave him a property in the north of Ireland that measures one square metre in size.

In this unusual and humorous tale, Frasier (Fray) Fallis, a young college professor from Canada, travels to Dublin on the heels of the COVID-19 pandemic. His plan is to tour the island. In so doing, he hopes to forget about the year that has just been and to find normalcy once again. However, it’s not a trip that goes according to plan. No, of course not! On a whim, and with fears of COVID-19 on his mind, Fray decides to camp in the heart of Dublin for the first night of his visit and things only spiral from there.

With no solid travel plans, Fray is taken on a wild journey. Before long, he finds himself being chased from a castle by a perturbed gardener, not to mention that he ends up commandeering a boat on the high seas off the southern Irish coast. However, despite the unusual trouble spots, colourful characters are always there to point him in the right direction, from a ten-year-old-turned-mechanic to a nun with a vengeance.

Will Fray ever find the normalcy he seeks? Perhaps not, but at least there’s always a pint of stout steps away. “Amazon”
