Mary Elizabeth Duggan SCA CFS
Since childhood Duggan has happily summered at Lake Couchiching and in southern Muskoka. Her plein air watercolours feature local landscape, flora and fauna.
Duggan was born and educated in Toronto and now lives beside Midland Bay.
As a post-secondary student she attended the much-respected Special 3-year Art programme at Central Technical School. Upon graduation she worked as an artist at the ROM followed by a long-career as a freelance professional Graphic Designer.
Since 1974, Duggan’s art has been seen in over 100 juried shows and her paintings hang in private collections across Canada, in the USA and in Ireland.
In 2001, she refocussed on painting full-time and started to use acrylics. In that media: several of her paintings have garnered awards; two became corporate acquisitions; in April 2019, she was Artist-in-residence in St Andrews NB and, in 2021, she completed her first public commission (Town of Midland).
Mary Elizabeth Duggan is an Elected Member of the Society of Canadian Artists as well as the Colour and Form Society.
“These paintings are part of a series I painted on location en plein air in one joyous garden at various hours and during the changing season over the course of several years.”
